The Memphis Grizzlies have extended a three-year, $30 million offer sheet to restricted free agent center Quinten Post, setting up a high-stakes roster decision for the Golden State Warriors. The agreement, finalized Monday morning by agents George Roussakis and Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, gives the Warriors until 11:59 p.m. EDT on Tuesday to match the terms or lose the third-year big man to their Western Conference rival.
The 26-year-old center has spent his first two professional seasons with Golden State after being selected 52nd overall in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Standing 7 feet tall, the Boston College product carved out a distinct role in the Warriors’ frontcourt rotation by showcasing perimeter-oriented offensive skills. In 67 games last season, which included 35 starts, Post averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds while connecting on 93 3-point field goals before his season was cut short by right foot soreness. Across 109 career games with the Warriors, Post has averaged 7.8 points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 36.4% from 3-point range.
For the Grizzlies, adding Post represents a concerted effort to deepen a frontcourt built around newly drafted No. 3 overall pick Cam Boozer and second-year center Zach Edey. The franchise reportedly preserved its non-taxpayer mid-level exception to facilitate the competitive offer. Post’s combination of high-volume perimeter shooting and notable defensive analytical improvements has made him an attractive asset for a Memphis squad looking to fortify its bench depth.
Meanwhile, Golden State now faces a difficult financial decision. The Warriors recently added veteran centers Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford, and matching a deal worth $10 million annually could further complicate their salary cap situation and remaining offseason plans. While Post developed into an important contributor, injuries and increased competition for minutes limited his role late last season, making Memphis’ aggressive offer a noteworthy test of how highly the Warriors value the young center’s long-term potential.
